COMPUTER SECURITY INCIDENT MANAGEMENT MANUAL
Initial considerations
This manual has been developed within the framework of the AMPARO Project, a LACNIC initiative that receives financial support from the IDRC, Canada.
Its development required a great effort on the part of a team experts in computer security management, highly recognized members of academia from around the region, and LACNIC and IDRC staff, with whom we have shared this first stage of the Project.
To all of them our immense gratitude, as they have made possible the first Computer Security Incident Management Manual, which will be presented for the consideration of the technical community of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The materials that have been developed comprise this manual, several case simulation workshops, presentations and other documents, which will now be subjected to a continuous improvement process in which we are hoping for high levels of participation and involvement on the part of the excellent computer security technicians of the region.
Likewise, together with many other organizations that have offered their cooperation, the AMPARO Project will conduct a series of Regional Training Workshops in which these documents will be shared by incident management expert instructors.
We are fully convinced that ahead of us still lies a challenge, which is to disseminate the contents that have been developed among the persons who need them, those who manage computer security incidents at regional organizations on a daily basis.
Finally, we must also thank the invaluable support received from LACNIC staff.
