First Regional Latin American and Caribbean Meeting of Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs)

The First Regional Latin American and Caribbean Meeting of Computer Security Incident Response Teams took place on Wednesday 5 October, 2011 within the framework of the LACNIC XVI / LACNOG 2011 event, with the participation of experts representing 12 different security teams from 6 different countries. The goal of the meeting was to increase knowledge among the region’s stakeholders and promote the exchange of experiences in order to strengthen the region in terms of computer security incident impact prevention and mitigation.

Participating teams made various presentations on relevant technical issues as well as on their current and future lines of work and on each team's individual experiences. Priorities were also defined for regional knowledge exchange and development. To conclude, the need to continue with this initiative was agreed and it was decided to hold the next meeting during the LACNIC XVII event in Quito, Ecuador (6-11 May, 2012).
